Shinto period piece with new made saya and late Edo or early Meiji tsuka. Blade is koshi-zori with tight itame hada, ko-kissaki eith ko-maru. Hammon is sugaha with nioi. Yasurime is sujikan.

Signed: Bichu no Kami Tachibana Yasuhiro, no date. Yasuhiro were famous smiths living in Settsu province. The first 3 generations Yasuhiro signed this way, and this is probably the 2nd generation.

1st generation 1661, 2nd generation 1684, 3rd generation 1711-36. Later generations changed name slightly. (Hawleys: YAS 804-806)

The tsuba depicts the God of Thunder and is signed “Bushu no Ju Eijima Masatsu”.
